Learn the Tools of the Trade

On-Campus Delivery model - This model is available for students with no prior waterproofing experience looking to become qualified. This course will give you skills to apply and fix waterproofing material in the construction industry. The course is delivered in a classroom setting at the Broadmeadows campus with students also undertaking practical assessment in a simulated setting. Duration: 12 months.

Workplace Delivery Model - This model is designed for those already working in the construction industry looking to become qualified. This model is only available for students with over five years waterproofing experience. Workplace Delivery is 'Rolling Enrolments' which means you can start anytime. Delivered in a flexible way that suits your work, we will come to your work site and assess you while you are working. The delivery is designed to fit in with a modern working environment including online content and workplace simulations. Duration: 12 months, flexible.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessments may include written, oral or practical assessment methods.

You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

What will I study?

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in:

  • 19 units of competency: 14 core units and 5 elective units

  • All electives are based on the work that you carry out to ensure training is suitable to your work place.

What Skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain skills across a number of key areas of the construction industry as well as skills in specialised tasks working with waterproofing such as applying membranes and special coatings to protect contents and the structural integrity of buildings

How Will I Be Selected?

For Workplace Delivery model - All applicants will need to be currently working in the industry and have access to a live job site for assessments. They must have a minimum of 5 years experience working in the industry and be 22 years or older

All applicants for this course will complete an assessment to evaluate their language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills. This helps to ensure that you enrol in a course that is the right level of study for you.
