Kangan Institute’s automotive pre-apprentices will have an opportunity to meet Group Training Organisations (GTOs) and potentially secure full apprenticeships at the Institute’s GTO Employment Event on Tuesday 19th November.
More than 60 pre-apprentices attended the event at Docklands campus. GTO representatives from WPC, APlus, The Apprenticeship Factory, VACC and ATEL will be present on the day to answer questions and register keen students.
This is Kangan Institute’s second GTO fair for the term, with the first held at the Broadmeadows campus for the Institute’s building, horticulture and electrical students.
“Our GTO events support our promise of real education, real skills and real jobs. Often the biggest challenge faced by pre-apprentices is to secure employment and transition into a full apprenticeship. That’s why we’ve devised these events – to essentially help our pre-apprentices explore all the options out there and network with GTOs within a relaxed environment,” said Diana McGowan, Kangan Institute’s assistant manager Business Development Solutions.
“We’ve run these events for a few years now and have seen some great results so far, with many students signing up with GTOs on the day itself.”
On the day Kangan Institute’s various pathways and employment support services were also present, including the NEXT STEP youth service, Employment Centre and Student Support and Recreation team.
