Kangan Institute courses arrive in Sunbury

Sunbury residents now have access to TAFE close to home with the arrival of Kangan Institute courses.

Kangan Institute Board Chair Margaret O’Rourke and Chief Executive Officer Sally Curtain met with Member for Sunbury Josh Bull and Mayor of City of Hume Naim Kurt in Sunbury on 9 August to celebrate the occasion.

The new initiative is being delivered out of the popular Hume Global Learning Centre as an interim training option while work progresses for the new standalone Kangan Institute Sunbury Campus, set to open in 2028.

As the leading vocational education provider to Melbourne’s north-west region, Kangan Institute is experienced in working closely with local communities, industry and schools to address current and future skills needs through its training and skills.

By offering courses ahead of time, Kangan Institute aims to meet the needs of the fast-growing Sunbury community by providing locally-based education to help students on their path to a rewarding career.

Three courses on offer include Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) and the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) Certificate I in EAL (Access) (22638VIC) and Certificate II in EAL (Access) (22639VIC).

The $25 million Sunbury Campus will be transformative for the fast-growing area and be strongly aligned with the neighbouring Kangan Institute Melton Campus also being delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government.

Kangan Institute has a strong record of delivering capital projects on time and within budget to a leading industry standard, including the Broadmeadows Trades and Skills Centre ($6.8 million), the Essendon Health Hub ($2 million) which opened in the last two years. Work is also well progressed on the Broadmeadows Health and Community Centre of Excellence, a $60 million project which is set to open late 2024 and classes commencing in 2025.

Comments for attributing, Sally Curtain CEO Kangan Institute:
“We are excited to be delivering courses to Sunbury residents well ahead of construction on the new satellite campus.

“By partnering with the Victorian Government and the Hume Global Learning Centre we can deliver valuable skills and training to the community sooner, while we continue working on establishment of our own campus facility.

“Our vision for the Sunbury Campus is for it to be seamlessly integrated within the local community and its industry, and this is a great place for us to start!”
