Kangan Institute is one of three institutions selected to participate in a pilot initiative led by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), aimed at empowering TAFEs with delegated powers to self-accredit courses to meet skills needs.
The integrated skills provider is joined by TAFE NSW and Central Queensland University in this innovative pilot, which runs until June 2025.
Through this pilot, Kangan Institute will develop and self-accredit an Advanced Diploma of Digital Innovation, designed to meet Australia’s growing demand for tech talent.
The course will focus on equipping students with the entrepreneurial and startup skills required to drive technological innovation across many industry sectors. It will cover a range of in-demand streams, from digital marketing and growth hacking to cyber security, software engineering, and robotics.
With a strong emphasis on project-based learning, industry collaboration, and applied research, the Advanced Diploma will ensure that students graduate with the real-world skills necessary to tackle emerging digital challenges and needs.
The timing of the pilot initiative couldn’t be more critical as Australia strives to create 1.2 million tech-related jobs by 2030.
By being part of this ASQA pilot, Kangan Institute will be able to reduce the accreditation process, significantly speeding up the delivery of this program to the market.
This will allow the Institute to be more responsive to industry needs, ensuring that training is aligned with emerging trends and technological advancements.
Additionally, the courseware will be designed to offer micro-credentials or short skills offerings to industry, helping businesses build a highly skilled workforce in key areas of digital innovation.
The Advanced Diploma of Digital Innovation represents the future of education and training at Kangan Institute. As a priority skills demand area, we are rapidly building our digital innovation offerings and are set to expand our information technology and cyber security offerings at our Cremorne and Broadmeadows campuses in 2025.
The pilot signals a move towards greater autonomy for TAFEs, allowing them to operate in ways that mirror universities, with greater flexibility and agility to meet industry demands.
