If you love working with people, a career in the thriving hospitality industry could be just what you're looking for. We have course intakes for on-campus students in February, April, July and October.

With continued growth in restaurants, cafes and tourism, qualified hospitality workers are in high demand, both here in Australia and overseas, and the industry offers plenty of scope for growth and development. There's lots of variety too with employment opportunities in restaurants, resorts, five-star hotels and cruise ships.

The nationally-accredited Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30622) has been designed to help you develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to secure an entry-level position in this exciting field.

You'll gain real-world experience working in the fully licensed restaurant at our Broadmeadows campus.

Our course uses blended delivery, a learning approach that combines traditional in-person instruction with online and digital methods to achieve learning objectives. This flexibility allows our students to continue to study in a safe, guided and supported manner.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.

What will I study?

You will learn about:

  • Different styles of food service, restaurant layouts and beverages
  • The art of coffee making
  • The importance of food safety and OHS in the Hospitality industry.

What Skills will I have when I complete this course?

The ability to greet and serve customers for a range of different style organisations and process financial transactions.

Can I Apply?

There are no set prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. OR You may apply if you have satisfactorily completed VCE or an approved equivalent course and the satisfactory completion of the work requirements (eligibility to transfer); or are mature age and have sufficient work experience to successfully undertake the course. (Mature age is anyone over the age of 18 who has been out of full-time education for more than 12 months.)
