Kangan Institute’s English classes will help you develop your language and academic skills. We have students from various countries, meaning you can develop your English and make friends with students from all over the world.
Our English classes consists of approximately 15 students. These small class sizes allows students to have more one-on-one attention from teachers. Our teachers are qualified, experienced, friendly, dedicated and available to help whenever students need assistance.

Students study for 20 hours of timetabled classes each week, in the morning, depending on their level.

Course structure
You can enter Kangan Institute’s English language courses at any level.
To enrol in our English courses, you may sit for any approved English Language Test with a minimum achievement of 3.0. These include:
- Kangan Institute's Englilsh Placement Test
- IELTS
- Pearson Test of English or equivalent
Assessment and Placement
Students are tested for proficiency during orientation and placed in class according to their English language level. Our class sizes vary from 10 to 18 students.
Class Assessment and Progression
Assessment includes class activities, assignments, presentations and tests. Students generally spend 10 weeks at each level. For example, a student who enters the programme with an IELTS score of 4.5 would generally require 20 weeks of ELICOS to reach the equivalent of IELTS 5.5.
Students who complete upper intermediate may be eligible in direct entry into courses at Kangan Institute. Please refer to course options here.

Our Teachers
All classes are taught by highly experienced teachers with specialist qualifications in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). The IELTS teachers have a deep understanding of the IELTS requirements and are experienced in exam preparation.
