Budding designers poised to showcase at Melbourne Fashion Week

Three Kangan Institute fashion students have been selected to showcase their collections for Melbourne Fashion Week’s Town Hall Runway 2 – Student Collections on Sunday 1 September.

Currently completing the Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising (MST60119) at Kangan Institute, the trio will join other student talents from top design schools from Melbourne and beyond.

Kangan Institute participants include:

  • Sabrina Sekerovski: Collection titled ‘Biohazard’
  • Kudzai Mupanemunda: Collection titled ‘Mupanemunda’
  • Woolee Bah: Collection titled ‘First Aid’

Sabrina Sekerovski, of East Doncaster, expressed her excitement on making the shortlist.

“I feel like my hard work has all paid off. I think being selected for Melbourne Fashion Week will be valuable when applying for jobs or future study,” she said.

Kangan Institute CEO Phill Murphy congratulated the students for being selected for the showcase.

“It’s fantastic to see the skills and talents of our fashion students being recognised by Melbourne Fashion Week, which is one of the city’s most anticipated annual fashion events,” he said.

“This experience will offer students a chance to apply their skills in a real-life fashion show setting as well as make vital connections with industry and potential employers.”

As part of Melbourne Fashion Week, Kangan Institute’s fashion students will also present an upcycled fashion show, Eco Luxe, in collaboration with Red Cross Shops on Monday 2 September.
