Enrolments now open for Hume Multiversity courses

If you live, work or study in Hume, we have some excellent tertiary pathway opportunities lined up to help you achieve your educational, work and training goals - students can now enrol in a range of Kangan Institute diploma courses and access pathways straight into university degrees delivered at satellite sites across Hume. This is all part of the new Hume Multiversity project initiated by Hume City Council in collaboration with Kangan Institute, Deakin University and Victoria University. The project is an Australian-first partnership aimed at improving access to learning opportunities for students in Melbourne's northern suburbs and courses are suitable for exiting Year 12 and mature age students returning to study. Enrolments are now being taken for the first courses offered through the Hume Multiversity, such as the Associate Degree of Arts, Business and Sciences with Deakin University at Hume Global Learning Centre (Craigieburn) studied alongside Kangan Institute's Diploma of Accounting, Diploma of Children's Services or Diploma of Community Services Work. The two-year program offers guaranteed pathways into a range of Deakin undergraduate degrees with up to 18 months' credit. Aspiring tertiary students can also benefit from the Hume Education Guarantee Scheme, a pilot project with the Council and Victoria University that supports individuals with pathways into their course of interest. Hume Mayor Councillor Geoff Porter said the courses provided an opportunity for rural and regional students to access higher education without having to travel into Melbourne's CBD. "Hume Multiversity is evidence of Council's commitment to providing lifelong learning opportunities for our community in our own backyard," Cr Porter said. "This is a great opportunity to enjoy the benefits of learning locally and in flexible learning spaces equipped with the latest technology - I encourage those of you contemplating education and career options to explore the courses available."
