Award recipient Erika Macapagal, who received an Outstanding International Student Award for Community Services, said she was pleased to receive the award.
“I did my best during my studies and I’m very happy that my teachers appreciated that,” she said.
Having now attained a diploma qualification in early childhood education and care, Erika is planning on staying in Melbourne to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the same field.
“Before I came to Melbourne I tutored many children and I really enjoyed it. I knew I was helping to mould them into becoming a better adult and I think that’s a really important role to play.” she said.
“I hope to someday be a director of a childcare centre.”
Erika thanked her teachers at Kangan Institute for their role in her success.
“The teachers really motivated me to do my best. Whenever I needed support on a certain subject, I could easily talk to or email my teachers. My teachers Pina, Kath, Tracey and Berni were very helpful and supportive,” she said.
Attended by graduates, family, friends and Kangan Institute staff, the graduation ceremony presented approximately 60 graduates with qualifications to take the next step in their careers.

“We’re very proud to have played a role in the success of many international students like yourselves who come to us, year after year, for hands-on training, expert teachers and great learning facilities.”
