Congratulations to Kangan Institute’s New Business Assistance with NEIS training participant Danny Lam who received the Bizcover NEIS-Change Award at the 2018 New Business Assistance with NEIS Awards on 8 October.
New Business Assistance with NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme) is an Australian Government program that provides eligible unemployed people with training and assistance to become a self-employed business owner, and the annual New Business Assistance with NEIS Awards celebrates success stories and unsung heroes from all over Australia.
The Bizcover New Business Assistance with NEIS-Change Award was presented to Mr. Lam for demonstrating the biggest life transformation as a result of New Business Assistance with NEIS.
The cabinet maker had enrolled in the program for help to start a business that would provide a stable income and flexible hours needed to raise a young family.
Through New Business Assistance with NEIS training, the Deer Park resident successfully built a cabinet making business – Deluxe Interiors Oz – which expanded from garage to a thriving factory setting in Maidstone within one year and now has four staff members under his wing.
“New Business Assistance with NEIS training helped me a lot. It was more than just theory; I gained real, practical experience and an understanding of the financial side of things, such as goals, forecasting and customer targeting. I’d definitely recommend that others consider New Business Assistance with NEIS training – it even provides an income while you train,” he said.
“Having my own business has allowed me to manage my hours better so I can spend more time with my family.
“This award is a wonderful bonus. Hopefully it’ll help more people recognise our business and our commitment to quality service.”
Kangan Institute CEO Trevor Schwenke said the awards will inspire other business owner hopefuls to consider the New Business Assistance with NEIS program.
“I’d like to congratulate Leigh and Danny on their remarkable achievements. The annual New Business Assistance with NEIS Awards are an excellent celebration of success stories arising from the New Business Assistance with NEIS program and will hopefully inspire many others to consider the support provided by this scheme,” he said.
“Kangan Institute is proud to have supported countless individuals over the years to materialise their business dreams through our New Business Assistance with NEIS program, which is available at various metropolitan locations, as well as regionally in Bendigo and Ballarat.”
Held in Sydney, the 2018 New Business Assistance with NEIS Awards also celebrated the achievements of employees of New Business Assistance with NEIS providers, with Kangan Institute staff member Leigh Spiden a finalist for the Tim Cremean Unsung Hero Award.
