Three talented students at Kangan Institute have been shortlisted as finalists for the 2019 Victorian Training Awards.

“Being shortlisted as finalists demonstrates our students’ outstanding skills and abilities, as well as the great work by our teachers in helping them achieve their educational goals.”

The students are amongst 45 finalists across 16 categories, with results to be announced on Friday 6 September at the Victorian Training Awards gala event in Crown Palladium.

“I’m shocked and honoured to be considered amongst all the amazing people who’ve been nominated for Vocational Student of the Year. I realised, through my time at Kangan Institute and with the help of the amazing teaching staff, that I could have the career I’ve always dreamed of.”

“I would love to work my way up using the skills that I’ve learnt to become a case manager and supervisor for GEO Group and hopefully work my way towards a management position helping to teach new officers the value of learning and the importance of self-improvement.”

“It feels absolutely incredible to be shortlisted for Victorian Trainee of the Year.”

“Being a trainee has given me experience and skills I never would have had otherwise. I didn’t have the capacity to go to university or TAFE without some sort of income, so being able to earn money and learn at the same time has been amazing.”

Quotes attributable to finalist Amber Gabelich

“I’m stoked on being shortlisted for Victorian Apprentice of the Year. I wouldn’t be able to achieve what I have so far without the training at Kangan Institute.”

“I hope to inspire more people to pursue an apprenticeship if they find a trade that they are passionate about. You never know what you can achieve until you try something.”
