WorldSkills on show at the Centre for Fashion and Creative Industries Open Day

Kangan Institute's Centre for Fashion and Creative Industries has been asked to host the WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition for fashion technology. The competition will coincide with the campus' open day on Sunday 4th August, 10am to 4pm. Visitors to the campus are encouraged to stop by and see the participants hard at work. Contestants will need to demonstrate excellence in the areas of pattern making and garment construction. Entries are open to all fashion technology students from any institute. "This is a great chance for students to challenge themselves and showcase their skills in this internationally recognised event," said Odille Higgins, Kangan Institute's manager of Centre for Fashion and Creative Industries. "Our Centre for Fashion and Creative Industries is the perfect place to hold a WorldSkills event; our creative campus and facilities really are world class." Medallists from this year's regional competitions may then be eligible to compete at the 2014 World Skills Australia National Competition, where they will test their skills against Australia's best trainees and apprentices within their specialised skill areas over three exciting days of competition. When: Sunday 4th August 2013 Time: 8am-6pm Where: Building D, Centre for Fashion and Creative Industries 85 Cremorne Street, Richmond
