Who is eligible?

The Work Education programs at Kangan Institute are designed for students with permanent intellectual disabilities who require additional assistance in developing work-related skills. Eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the program aligns with the student’s learning and employment goals.

 

How to Enrol

Enrolling in the Work Education program is a straightforward process:

  1. Initial consultation – Parents/students call Kangan and express interest in undertaking a course with staff from Enrolment and Admissions.
  2. Enrolment and admissions - We will provide a course referral form to be completed prior to the interview and information about other requirements, such as evidence of a disability.Application submission.
  3. Interview and assessment – The student will be required to attend an interview to determine whether or not the courses offered are suitable for the applicant.
  4. Course commencement – Once accepted, students begin their learning journey with dedicated support from teachers. 

 

How Parents Can Support Their Child

As a parent, you play a crucial role in your child’s success in the Work Education program. Here are some ways to support them:

  • Encourage independence – Foster self-confidence by allowing your child to take responsibility for their learning and daily tasks.
  • Stay engaged – Regularly check in with their teachers and attend progress meetings.
  • Provide routine and structure – Help establish a study schedule and assist with organisational skills.
