Certificate IV in Disability

Hannah Warne-Smith

Hannah started in the Disability Support field by chance.

After a few years in the industry, she decided to study an accredited qualification in disability.

A friend who had been in the disability sector for a decade highly recommended Kangan Institute's Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115) .

"It was deeply important to me that I walk the talk, and become properly accredited, as people with disabilities require properly trained support in their life, and to better the sector", she says.

"I learned a great deal about current issues in the sector and was inspired by some very lovely classmates who will be an absolute boon to the field!" she says.

Hannah's favourite subject was Responding to Abuse and Neglect. "The unit was taught with a lot of compassion in the content we were dealing with", she adds.

Hannah plans to continue advocacy for "good, secure jobs in the field" in the future and is enjoying the connections she is making in the sector.

Hannah's advice for students: "TAFE courses are invaluable, and the coordinators of these courses come from the field, and they want more than anything to see bright people entering. Never be afraid to communicate what you need to make these courses possible for you!"
