Certificate IV in Disability

Joel was already working in the disability sector, specialising in people with acquired brain injuries when he enrolled in Kangan Institute’s Certificate IV in Disability course.

"I really needed to change where I was working and I knew I would need to first be qualified to do that - so I did the Certificate IV in Disability", he says. 

Midway through his studies, Joel was diagnosed with Autism and openly shared his experience with classmates. With support from his teachers, Joel successfully completed his course and has found full-time employment with Wazka Support Services in Korumburra, where he now creates his own workshops and programs for people on the spectrum.

 “I would’ve been 43 years of age when I enrolled and I am glad I took that option. I believe Kangan got me thinking outside the box and how to communicate with other people", he adds. 

Joel is a dual winner of Kangan Institute’s 2021 Inspirational Student of the Year.
